Coveo was set up by entrepreneurs behind Copernic, a desktop search system. Coveo was originally a SharePoint centric search solution. Since the company's founding in 2004, the company has ingested more than $35 million in venture funding. The company sometimes refers to itself as a start up, despite its 10 year business history. The company's marketing has shifted from offering its product as an alternative to Microsoft's search system to customer support and more recently "knowledge." The company's marketing seems to emulate that of InQuira, a company formed by the fusion of two faltering organizations. InQuira rode the customer support pony and then jumped to more nebulous steed, "knowledge."
