Hey there,

I was VP Engineering of Entopia back in 2001-2002. I agree that Entopia was well ahead of time then and developed some unique pieces of technology based on innovative approaches to KM. And, just for the record, 'K" in K-bus stands for 'Knowledge". R&D center of the company was in Israel and head office - in US. Entopia went out of business in 2006, primarily because of management problems.

Please contact me if you need any additional info.

Regards,
Igor Blyuss

1999 I was working for ZDNet's Software Downloads Library where I was exposed to huge varieties and amounts of interesting shareware/freeware apps. One such program was KangarooNet. I loved it as a personal productivity tool and tried to contact them to research it for a possible online presentation within the ZDNet channels.

I learned then (2001) they were in "transition" and about to re-emerge as Entopia with a new version of KangarooNet to be called Quantum, which proved to be KangarooNet on steroids. Soon after they introduced their K-Bus technology and were obviously going for the Enterprise client rather than the personal information assistant type of "thing".

Honestly, I think they bit off a bit too much and I agree with you now in hindsight they may have been under-funded. I do believe they were ahead of the tech curve, nevertheless, for Quantum's ability to factor-in the social relationships relatvie to the information collected at the desktop (bottom).
