I had a meeting with Simplexo this week and have done some research into the product and I’m pretty impressed. Their website is a good source of info but I’ve collated a lot of it with my thoughts at http://richfrombechtle.wordpress.com/2009/01/28/simplexo-enterprise-search/

Regarding scalability, I believe the biggest implementation they currently have is 600,000 users.

Has anyone had a chance to try it out. How good/stable/scalable is the tool if one has to perform volumes of content based searching.

Stephen, Agree with you on many point, see my post. The point is, 3 month after this announce, that Simplexo is not really open source, and with no community. There is still a place to take. What's your bet?

Great to hear that other vendors are trumpeting the advantages of open source for enterprise search.
