From SharePoint Semantics to Text Radar
September 3, 2012
Today we have launched Text Radar. The new information service marks an important turning point in the SharePoint market. Many vendors are tightly bound to Microsoft and the Microsoft SharePoint platform. However, there is a growing problem for many of these vendors. Specifically, a SharePoint-only solutions is no longer a slam dunk sale.
A number of companies have introduced products which go “beyond SharePoint.” Text Radar, sponsored by Augmentext and Smartlogic, will track these changes. Following the editorial approach which helped make SharePointSemantics.com the number one source for curated SharePoint tips, sources, and information—Text Radar will cover the burgeoning sector which includes:
- Big data
- Content intelligence
- Compliance.
Existing links to the individual story content in SharePointSemantics.com will be supported. The stories will remain online when you locate a document in Bing, Google, or one of the other indexing services which processed the microsite’s content. Effective today, www.sharepointsemantics.com redirects to Text Radar.
Organizations wanting to go “beyond SharePoint” have no easy way to keep track of the interrelated developments in these niches, said Stephen E Arnold, founder of Augmentext. “Our team of librarians and researchers will be looking for important articles and relating those articles’ key points to other companies, issues, and management factors. Technology is no longer enough to deal with the “beyond SharePoint” shift.”
You can review the news each day at www.textradar.com. In the next few days, we will add an RSS feed, distribute key stories via Tumblr and Twitter. We are also going to post selected stories to a Facebook page.
We want to comment on the ungainly pivots that some companies are trying to make. Examples range from IBM with its bifurcated approach to analytics with a shotgun marriage of open source technology and proprietary technology like Vivisimo’s. We want to comment on the shifts and flips which will take place within the SharePoint centric world as well as monitor some of the new innovations which are platform agnostic.
TextRadar will complement the coverage in Inteltrax, AppRapids, OpenSearchNews, and Beyond Search. If you monitor the flow of stories in these separate Augmentext services you will have a bird’s eye view of what is hot and what is not in the “beyond search” sector.
Each week we will run in Beyond Search a run down of the most important stories appearing in Text Radar. If you have an editorial idea or want to send the editor news releases, please, write textradar@yandex.com.
Augmentext is a company which puts a turbocharger on a client’s existing sales and marketing programs. Smartlogic is one of the world’s leaders in content intelligence, compliance, and big data. For even more hard hitting information about important business trends in the “beyond search” sector, sign up for Honk, our free, weekly newsletter. Content in Honk, like the content in Text Radar, is no duplicative.
