Text Radar Tracks Content Intelligence

September 8, 2012

TextRadar, a new online information service tracking content intelligence, ran a story which highlighted a benefit of predictive analytics. Inappropriately implemented, predictive methods can generate misleading or incorrect outputs. “Predictive Analytics Saves American Lives in Afghanistan War Zone” said:

Predictive analytics is at work even in Afghanistan helping to detect where and how combat will happen. Utilizing large amounts of data through emails published by Wikileaks, a secure and anonymous source that provides information via an electronic drop box, researchers have developed a model that can proactively alert troops to location and intensity of upcoming combat.

In October 2012 ISS Conference, Stephen E Arnold will be exploring some of the characteristics of next generation analytics systems. Among the systems he will snapshot are Digital Reasoning and Smartlogic. Systems which operate in automatic mode may be susceptible to shaped content which skews outputs for certain queries.
