Music Star Dubs Social Media As Mob Mentality

October 31, 2020

I am not sure I knew about Taio Cruz before I read “Taio Cruz: Social Media Has a Mob Mentality.” Mr. Cruz is a musician. He knows about social media, or, at least, he knows more than I do. Plus he makes an interesting connection:

“I think there’s a mob mentality that happens in comment sections. “A lot of the time people will see something, then look at the comments to give them the answer of how they should feel about it, or how they should behave. “And I think that’s really what happened with with my stuff. I was making fun videos, then someone decided to be toxic – and a bunch of other people decided, ‘Oh, I’m gonna join in on that.'”

The social media which sparked Mr. Cruz’s insight was TikTok, the data Hoover and entertainment mecca for people who are young at heart.

Mr. Cruz allegedly observed:

“Tik Tok really emphasizes making users’ content go viral through their ‘For You’ page – and it has this sort of feedback loop or a feedback spiral. “So if you create a piece of content, then someone else creates content from your content, it loops over and over and over again.”

Suggestion: The elected officials investigating social media may want to reach out to Mr. Cruz. He may have some insights and the language skills to explain impacts of social media upon users and stars alike.

The music for “Hangover” would enliven the forthcoming hearings.

The techniques are more or less always the same.
The speech changes regarding the evolution of UCG (user generated content [comments – post – video]) which can be directed in any direction you want.
Techniques used in movies and music:
1 Functional simplification of existing realities. Every aspect of the world must be formulated or reformulated in a form that is consistent with one’s existing narrative and of course is easily understood.
2 Functional trivialization of new potentially destabilizing realities. Some realities must be intercepted and re-packaged after prior trivialization so as to make them “digestible”)
3 Creating the image of the enemy. Nations or peoples or ethnic or religious groups that they want to attack in the future are represented according to negative stereotypes.
4 “Framing as finction”. Framing as works of fiction) of potentially destabilizing realities. By administering repeated doses of “uncomfortable reality” to the public via audiovisual means, they are trained in their role as a passive spectator of those same realities.
5 Creation or reinforcement of one or more myths. Every human society needs fundamental myths, and ideologies still need them, in order to work the myth must be perceived as the very fabric of reality.
6 Allegory of Preparation for the Real World. The new allegory thus becomes paradigmatic and defines the area, the topics and even the key words of the debate. The audience finds themselves discussing the change strictly within the boundaries set by the allegory made available to them.
7 Catharsis of dream justice (and fictitious revenge)
8 Forgery by foolish association. One of the most basic techniques of disinformation is to communicate a truth inserted in a context of delusional fake news.
9 Taking control of the dissent narrative. in a society dissent can take many forms. If eliminating dissent is not possible, and it is not, then one must take control of the narrative that supports it.
10 Trailer of scheduled events in the real world. Anticipating in a way that is prophetic is little, crucial events of considerable impact on the world and on people’s lives.
11 Messages between the lines for those who know how to grasp them. In some cases the trailers of scheduled events are discreetly inserted in a film to be grasped by those few who are able to grasp them.

The topic is really complex, it would also involve transforming all words that are abstract into objective ones (emoticons or emojis play a certain more or less important role)
It is about the impoverishment of understanding and abstraction,
For example, the concepts of justice, legitimacy, legality, freedom, equality, unemployment, intelligence, happiness are “invisible” abstractions. All our ability to manage the political, social and economic reality in which we live hinges exclusively on “thinking in concepts”. By transforming these words into objective, the language of logical construction that allows scientific analytical knowledge is lost. Abstract words are illustrated in a few words and emoticons and emojis or other images play a fundamental role, man thinks in images.
Returning to the UGC (user generated content) it is easy to guide the evolution of any post by any user, the web is by no means the free and peaceful zone that many yearn for, just make a molecular invasion of the network by creating a false public opinion, enlisting a ‘army of bloggers and users, for example, more than a million bilingual citizens are being recruited to mobilize against “problematic” websites, their mission is to be trolls, they must not give an inch, inonandare di provocations, irritating phrases, insults, electronic squads, off-topic or practically senseless diversions, with the aim of getting in the way.
